Social Emotional Learning

WHAT IS SEL?

According to The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), social emotional learning is the process through which individuals understand and manage emotions, set and achieve goals, feel and show empathy, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. In VBCPS, social-emotional learning is approached using a tiered support system that includes specialized curriculum, group and individualized strategies aimed to address student needs.

Students can connect with our team and register for services here. Encouraging students to reach out proactively can help them manage stress and get the support they need.

For families and staff, we have this resource you can include in your winter newsletter email. We hope it's easy to plug in for more awareness and to guide families toward the available supports. Additionally, we have this video walk through for students and families to learn more about the registration and scheduling process.
